Industrial Digester Cleaning
Industrial closed digester cleaning is a crucial maintenance process that ensures the efficient and safe operation of anaerobic digesters used in organic waste treatment and biogas production. Cleaning removes accumulated sludge, debris, and bacterial biofilms that can reduce the performance of the digesters.
At Northern Plant Services, we provide expert cleaning solutions tailored to the specific digester and material being processed. Common methods include vacuum trucks, high-pressure water jets, chemical cleaning agents, and manual cleaning.
Our innovative Digester Sludge Maceration Stinger (DSMS) system features an 8” solid bore vacuum pipe, equipped with an 185 cfm air sparge nozzle and a 20,000 PSI rotary tool. As the DSMS moves through the digester, it macerates the material, enhancing organic breakdown and reuse. This tool can extract sludge from over 40 feet deep and can be mounted on an excavator or crane for increased mobility. We've had success loading 18-cylinder trucks with sludge in just six minutes from a 40-foot depth.
Given the hazardous nature of confined spaces and materials, our team follows strict safety protocols, including ventilation, protective gear, and continuous monitoring for hazardous gases.
